Forty-Five

Recently I treated myself to a new point-and-shoot.

This is my .45 — a Kimber Stainless Raptor II.

I had been in the market for a 1911 in .45ACP, and was considering an old-school, no-frills Colt 1991-series, but in my research I encountered the Kimber Raptor series and fell in love with it.

It has some features that set it apart from other accurised, target-grade 1911s, such as the 'scale' slide serrations and frontstrap, the scale-patterned zebrawood grips, wave pattern engraving on the butt of the grip safety, and the brushed metal finish on the slide.

Other features include Tritium night sights, lowered and flared ejection port, ambi-safety, light trigger, high beavertail, skeletonised hammer and trigger and full-length guide rod.

To photograph it, I opted for natural window light with the use of a reflector, and used a musical instrument case as the backdrop.
